International President Dr. John Button, Eliminate Chair Randy DeLay, and other Kiwanis dignitaries came to visit the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto, a leader in the... drive to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus world-wide. Our club honored President Lynne Mercer with a Centennial award. These awards will only be available this year as Kiwanis celebrates its 100th anniversary. The $1500 donation required for this award will provide tetanus vaccinations for approx. 850 women in underdeveloped countries, protecting them and their unborn babies from this horrible disease. Other highlights included presentation of Kiwanis Centennial quilts to both Dr. Button and Randy deLay, and a Kiwanis Doll project,stuffing dolls used by hospitals to help comfort and communicate with childhood patients.
