Church of the Open Door 09.12.2020

You’re probably just as excited for 2020 to be over as I am. Christmas and New Year’s cannot come soon enough! I’m very ready for a fresh start! As much as we’d love to fast forward to 2021 (and probably even a little further than that if we’re being honest), I want to encourage you as much as possible to slow down during this season. This year, more than any other, take intentional steps to engage with the Christmas story . . . - Ryan Berkman, Student Ministries Pastor

The Christian movement was a real mission impossible . . . there was no earthly reason why the mission would be a success. Join us tomorrow to hear Pastor David Anderson continue in our Revive Us: Holy Spirit series as he shares from John 15 & 16 and how Jesus not only tells his disciples that He is going away, but that it is to their advantage that He leaves. We’ll meet under the tent at 8, 9:30 or 11am - RSVP: churchoftheopendoor.churchcenter.com/registrations/events... P.S. We’ll meet rain or shine! Or, join us via our livestream at churchoftheopendoor.com

This I recall to my mind, Therefore, I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning;... Great is Your Faithfulness. -Lamentations 3:21-23 * 2020 Gratitude Walk *

Just as the Israelites built altars of remembrance, during this Gratitude Walk we are going to go back in time and reflect on God’s goodness over the course of this year. As the walls came in and rhythms we once knew came to a halt . . . How did God work? ... How was He faithful? How did He sustain you in impossible situations? This is for all of us - while I have tailored the experience to be kid-friendly, I hope that COD families of all ages will come. You'll have the chance to make a yearbook of sorts, and to contribute to a public display of God's faithfulness throughout this year. 2020 has been a historic year full of the unexpected and lots of uncharted waters. When the pandemic first broke out in March, I sensed God telling me He was on the move. I was to buckle in, hold on tight and keep my eyes on Him, because He was going to set the table for a display of His greatness. There have been a bunch of bumps along the way, but nothing out of God’s plan. The Father has not left us or forsaken us. He’s been resetting, rebuilding, creating, and moving. As we embark on this Gratitude Walk, let’s remember the goodness of our God. Let our praise and testimony be a sweet aroma of worship and an example to our children. May the Holy Spirit fill us with undeniable reminders of how God sustained us. May these stories become a family keepsake that your children and your grandchildren come to remember 2020 by. May 2020 not be defined by the things of this world or what the media says, but by the tireless faithfulness of our Lord Jesus Christ and His tender mercy poured out on us. - Jessica Lee, Children’s Pastor When: Saturday, November 7 Time: 10am-11am start/11am-12pm lunch Where: Check in at Worship Center patio Rain or shine, join us for a hands-on family-friendly reflection on 2020, followed by a delicious lunch! A message to government leaders . . . We are for you. We are with you. We’re praying for you.... We see you. I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. - 1 Timothy 2:1-2
