HOPE(by) Text Texting has become the most popular form of communication these days, though informal and somewhat impersonal, you can’t argue it isn’t convenient! So how could a text message possibly bring Hope? Think of it as the modern day drop in. Years ago, we would simply knock on our friends door and invite ourselves over for coffee around the kitchen table. Free time seems to be disappearing with every passing day, and quite possibly doesn’t exist in our overflowing... calendar of commitments. Though this is the sad reality most find themselves in, it doesn’t have to keep you from checking in on friends and family with genuine intention. A simple How are you doing?! text can go a long way. It’s easy to assume on the surface that people are doing just fine, but do we really know? We can’t unless we ask. Smiling faces can still carry hurt, sorrow, doubt, and hopelessness. It takes less than a minute to send a text message that has the power to open a door to Hope for others. - - - - Hope(by) Challenge Think of 5 friends or family members, send them a text that lets them know you are thinking of them. #hopebyyou #coastalfuneralcenter #christmashope

HOPE(by) Lists We have to-do lists, grocery lists, and Christmas lists galore; what good could another list bring? These lists are always focused on what we don’t have, what we need to get, and what isn’t done. What if we had a list that compiled what we DO have? Yes, a list that isn’t there to accomplish but simply to remind you of the blessings in your lifea gratitude list. Are you grateful for that chocolate glaze donut you devoured yesterday morning? Write that down. Are... you grateful for the warm bed you sleep in at night? Write that down. Maybe this year’s holidays will be a little more on the quiet side, but we can continue to be grateful for the traditions we’ve experienced in the past and look forward to again in the years to come. It is all too easy to take for granted some of the most mundane tasks of our day, or experiences and opportunities of the past. Getting into the practice of gratitude can remedy even the most anxious of minds. Gratitude begets joy, and joy reciprocates gratitude. - - - - Hope(by) Challenge Begin each morning by listing 1-3 things you are grateful for. (Don’t overthink it!) #hopebyyou #coastalfuneralcenter #christmashope

HOPE(by) Light Every year you pull out those tangled up Christmas lights, you string them along some garland, or inside your tree, only to plug them in and realize they’ve burnt out. Anger, rage, maybe a hint of defeat builds up inside of you in that moment and you think to yourself, Why do I even try? No, the daunting chore of hanging lights is not what we look forward to each holiday year. What inevitably follows, however, is a sense of peace, delight, and maybe tranquili...ty as we gaze at those lights every night. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.- MLK Jr. So as you approach the old box of Christmas lights, and consider the task ahead, remind yourself of the gift you will bring to those who pass by, and are in need of your light. - - - - Hope(by) Challenge String Christmas lights outside of your home this year to share the light with others. Consider doing the same for an elderly neighbor! #hopebyyou #coastalfuneralcenter #christmashope

HOPE(by) You The past days we have spent reflecting on ways we encourage others to share Hope. Much like Love, hope must exist within yourself in order to give it. How can we share peace, hope, and love, if we ourselves do not allow it into our own hearts? Yes, if you wish to inspire, encourage, and give Hope it must begin with You. In the movie It’s a Wonderful Life, Clarence the angel asks God, Is he [George Bailey] sick?and God replies, No, worse, he’s lost hope. ... Friends, we must never lose hope! For when we do, a ripple effect can occur with all those linked to us. You never know who is directly and indirectly affected by your presence and light of hope. Strengthen the hope within you, like the muscles in your body you must exercise hope as an act of the will. Choose to see it in the simple happenings of life, in the stories unfolding around you, and in all of those you encounter. Hope(by) Challenge Find the positive spins. Throughout your day, challenge yourself to find the positive in as many situations or thoughts as possible. Do this every day for the week and notice how it can change your outlook completely! #hopebyyou #coastalfuneralcenter #christmashope

Hope(by) Coffee Imagine you’re in line at your favorite coffee drive thru, about to indulge in your favorite non-fat mocha caramel swirl extra whipped cream iced cup of greatness - or maybe just a nice cup of joe - and when you pull up to the window to pay, the barista tells you the car in front of you has already paid for your beverage. You quickly glance to see if you can catch a glimpse at the car, the license plate, or the side mirror, in hopes of making sense of this ac...t of kindness. As you suspect, it’s a complete stranger. Has this happened to you before? Can you imagine what feelings would stir up within you in that moment? The common saying, There are still good people in this world comes to mind. Of course there are! Though we are often quick to forget this because our daily path can often be so independent of others that we are neglected of the experience of human kindness. The simple act of buying a strangers coffee will not only instill a silent reward of joy within yourself, but undoubtedly remind that person that they are cared for, leaving an imprint of Hope. - - - - Hope(by) Challenge Paperclip some cash with a sticky note for hope on it, and keep it in your car as a reminder to purchase someone’s coffee, tea, cheeseburger, whatever it may be - in the line behind you. #hopebyyou #coastalfuneralcenter #christmashope

"When the ways of the world have you feeling a little weary, may the long time sun shine upon you. When fears creep into your thoughts and make themselves at home, may all love surround you. When is seems a little dark on the path ahead, may the pure light within you guide your way on." #coastalfuneralcenter #inspiration
