On this first day of fall classes, and the day before Dr. Lori Varlotta becomes the 8th President of California Lutheran University, I want to thank all the students, faculty, staff, alumni, Regents, Convocators, and friends who make Cal Lutheran such a special and wonderful place. Your commitment to the institution and to each other, even during trying times like these, are an inspiration. It has been a privilege to serve as President for the last 12+ years and I look forward to the great days that lie ahead for Cal Lutheran!

To minimize risk of COVID-19 in our community, we are transitioning to our Social-Distancing Plan starting tomorrow through at least April 5. Classes will move ...to virtual instruction. UPDATE: The Thousand Oaks campus and Oxnard, Westlake and Woodland Hills centers will remain closed through Thursday, October 31. Classes in those locations are... canceled through Thursday. All live chats in online courses will proceed unless otherwise communicated by the instructor or the program director/staff. Campus Safety, Residence Life, Food Services, Facilities, Campus Ministry and senior leadership personnel remain on the Thousand Oaks campus to serve residential students and administer essential campus operations. The university anticipates reopening on Friday. The university will continue to monitor fire conditions and provide updates as necessary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Los campus de Cal Lutheran en Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, Westlake y Woodland Hills permanecerán cerrados hasta el jueves 31 de octubre. Cal Lutheran students and families, Cal Lutheran's Thousand Oaks campus is situated about a mile from voluntary evacuation zones to the northeast. According to ...Ventura County Fire Department leadership, students may carefully depart campus via Highway 101 to a location unaffected by the Easy Fire. Students leaving campus will not be able to access Highway 118 and Highway 23 to the north. Campus Safety, Residence Life, Food Services, Facilities, Campus Ministry and University leadership will remain on campus to coordinate procedures for residential students. In the case of an emergency evacuation for the Thousand Oaks campus, students will be advised by the university alert system, residence hall staff, and university personnel with directions for getting to a safe location. Ullman Commons and Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center will be available as staging shelters. The university is in regular contact with fire department personnel to establish the best location for students to shelter. Water, food and other shelter provisions are being prepared for all who remain on campus. You may direct your questions to university personnel by calling 888-260-5450.
