Nakamichi bx-1. This needed a control motor rebuild, belts, idler and even a flywheel! Some of these have pot metal flywheels that break down and cause massive wow and flutter issues. After finding a flywheel from a donor and performing all the setups, this sounds great with only .07% wow and flutter measured.... This bottom of the line nakamichi will outperform almost all the pioneer, marantz, Yamaha, sony and kenwood decks of the time.

Watch out for capacitor death on these nakamichi "cassette deck 1" - caps peed on the board and severely damaged it. Customer complained of loss of channel and distortion. Had to thoroughly clean the board, jumper alot of broken traces and replace the capacitors. Works great now!

Once in awhile, we get in these beasts. They're a pain to service because of size and weight, but the outcome is rewarding. This is a marantz 2385. Spec says 185 watts / channel. We benched this after service at 210 watts / channel. Owner is gonna be really happy with this one

Today's scary project. Tracking down and troubleshooting power supply problems in a 1960s saba 400. Afterwards, new electrolytic and film caps along with a set of tubes.

NEARLY EVERY CUSTOMER IS VIOLATING THE SIX-FOOT SOCIAL DISTANCING RULE. THIS TROUBLES ME DEEPLY. . I'm having to say "Six-feet, please" with nearly every customer. Sometimes I have to say this over and over with the same person. The reply "Sorry", accompanied by moving away, is often followed five minutes later with another encroachment on my space. . PLEASE MAINTAIN SIX-FOOT SOCIAL DISTANCE.... . Here's a common example of what troubles me. . When I'm looking at your set, please do not crowd up next to me. If you want to SHOW ME what's the matter with your set by operating it in the lobby, tell me you want to show me things about your gear, AND I WILL GRACIOUSLY STEP ASIDE. . ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ .
