Note from the Director, Patricia Young March 27, 2020 First: Thank you dancers, for continuing to work on your own while we wait to return to studio classwork and rehearsals. And new or prospective students, we are eager to be able to welcome you before too long. When Governor Newsom is able to announce the end of quarantine, I want to find you rested, full of energy, and ready dance better than ever! As we all go through our shared experience of staying sa...fe, it can feel cut off or separated...yet it is actually being experienced by everyone in the world at the same time. Even though we are not seeing each other, we are very aware of each other. And the range of emotions around us are varied, and strong without the normal distractions in our lives. Being aware that too many of us have, or may experience profound loss should not be overlooked. In response to all of this we seek to support each other with compassion and love. And that is the way of the artist - noticing, listening, understanding, supporting, lifting, and helping to heal. In our area of Northern California we are too well practiced in coping with misfortune. It is admirable that the people of our communities all around have always courageously led the way forward, in many different ways. And our young dancers have become highly aware of their role in offering moments of respite, sharing a glimpse of beauty, and restoring a chance of joy. Because it is what we do, I am hoping for better times on the way; and invite families, friends, and the community at large to join us at one or more of future events planned. Guest artists from the Eugene Ballet. 3 shows, plus school show. THE NUTCRACKER BALLET .... December, 2020 Paradise Performing Arts Center. 4 shows plus school show. Once again, to our dancers and students: keep moving and be ready to hop back into class and rehearsals at the earliest notice! Oroville location: 2115 Myers directed by Patricia Young. Paradise location: Pearson Rd near Clark, Trudi Angel.

Canceled until further notice.. (Pandemic cancellation.) We are looking forward to our next performance date, re-scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oroville State Theatre. We will present Classical Vignettes, a collection of new choreographed pieces, short excerpts of Swan Lake, and back by popular demand the lighthearted County Fair.

Reporting in: Miss Trish, Ms. L. and Miss S. enjoyed a wonderful weekend highlighted with a performance of the Eugene Ballet Co. at their beautiful home theater, the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene, Oregon. Familiar faces were all around for us, as these artists often come share their talents with the Northern California Ballet Co. (Trudi Angel) performances in Paradise, Ca. This offers a wonderful opportunity for our audiences and dancers here. Th...eir ballets for that evening (see photo) were technically impressive and performed with heart; very sensitive and imaginative, to the next one being imaginative and fun-filled. We look forward to another field trip opportunity to see Eugene Ballet, and hope to include more of our young dancers. And if anyone finds an open weekend when EB is performing, it is worth the trip! It is coming! The Magic 0f Northern California Ballet Company’s Nutcracker Ballet December 20, 21, and 22nd, 2019 has been materializing through the skills of Wayne Angel for many months. A visit to his Santa Land -like workshop gives a glimpse of the amazements to come. You won’t want to miss it ... if there is no place like home for the holidays, then come celebrate with Clara, Fritz, their family and friends in this classically traditional homecoming presentation at the Paradise Performing Arts Center. Miss Jennifer Martin, ballet Mistress of Eugene Ballet Company, was one of the marvelous guest artists performing for NCB’s Sleeping Beauty in May, 2019. Here she is seen as a beautiful and commanding Carrabossa. In contrast to the wicked role, our young dancers found her to be actually very kind, and loved dancing with her!
