Our students will mark the Fred Korematsu Day at the annual assembly with a host of activities planned, including a play portraying his life and legal struggles. From Wikipedia: Fred Korematsu was an American civil rights activist who objected to the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. To commemorate his journey as a civil rights activist posthumously, "Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution" was observed for the first time on his 92nd birthday, January 30, 2011, by the state of California, the first such commemoration for an Asian American in the United States."

Inclusive Schools Week is Coming! Celebrate Inclusion! Clarendon is joining SFUSD school sites across the district in celebrating Inclusive Schools Week, December 2-6. By engaging in discussions about the importance of inclusion, we can help to make all marginalized students and families feel included at our schools.... Inclusive Schools Week is one of many weeks during the school-year when we can reflect on our charge to assist students to be the best version of themselves. This year's national Inclusive Schools Week theme is "Charting the Course for Inclusion. Many of us have seen positive changes in awareness of inclusion as a requirement for achieving greater access, equitable opportunities and more authentic relationships. At the same time, most of us recognize that we have many more steps to take to reach our goal of fully inclusive schools. Our students will be participating in various activities in their classrooms and at lunch time during the week. Being fully inclusive embraces disability, gender, socio-economic status, cultural heritage, language preference, and other factors. This is a great opportunity to continue conversations with your child at home about making our community a place where everyone feels included. In the meantime, we are grateful to have such a supportive school community.
