A message from Julie Olesniewicz, Ed.D., Interim Superintendent of Schools Good Evening CUSD Families, In addition to ongoing challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to face unrest in our nation. With escalating tensions regarding politics, race and other challenges facing our community, this week our students again witnessed intense and historic events unfolding in real time. The stress and anxiety these dramatic events have on our students is of great conce...rn to all members of the CUSD family. We continue to strive for how to best support, educate and engage our students as they process these events. Our students have many questions and many worry about their safety and the future of our community and nation. Conversations will continue over the next several weeks with families and staff as we all process what has happened and how we will continue to move forward. As you know, it is important for us, as adults, to convey positivity, safety and love to our students while clarifying facts and answering our children’s questions. I would like to share a few resources our staff has found that may be helpful as you support your student. CUSD staff is here to help. Please contact your child’s teacher or counselor if you have questions or concerns. Congratulations to our newly elected School Board Members: Kathy Archer and Bob Fass. They were both sworn into office this evening. Also, this evening, during the annual organizational meeting, the Board of Education elected Mrs. Nancy Treser Osgood as Board President; Mr. Steven Llanusa as Vice President; and Mrs. Kathy Archer as Clerk for the 2021 Governing Board Year. Dr. Olesniewicz will serve as Secretary to the Board of Education.
