Matthew Keating had a very real problem. Like so many other musicians, he missed live performances now that the pandemic has forced us to be apart. In his job as executive director of the Claremont Community School of Music, he tried a few ideas to keep his students and the community creating music, but it was just not the same as performing together. It’s lonely to play an instrument by yourself that is meant to be played together, Mr. Keating said at the time. So we tried to find a way to do something as a community. It’s not the same as performing live, but it’s pretty good. www.claremont-courier.com/articles/news/t40323music

Claremont experienced a severe wind event on Monday as pesky Santa Anas moved through the area with gusts up to 50 mph and higher in mountain areas. Although there was widespread tree and debris damage, most of it was cleaned up within 24 hours. Cameron Troxell of Moab Drive felt fortunate that his tree landed directly in his front walkway, since just about any other direction would have caused significant damage. Claremont High School cheerleaders and their families have been taking part in a playful bit of mischief lately, whereby unsuspecting Claremont families awaken to find a flock of pink flamingos in their front yards. The plastic birds began showing up around town in August, when the CHS Pep Boosters kicked off the fundraiser. www.claremont-courier.com/articles/news/t39248flock
