Have you tried the fabulous baobab drinks & snacks from @terangalife? Good news for newcomers and loyal fans alike, chef owner Nafy Flatley offers entire organic meals, too! Like the portions, the heart behind the food is generous indeed. We’ve tried Vegetable Nambè, a super satisfying dish with jasmine rice and a slow burn, tender Chicken a la Nafy, and Salatu Fulani, a cauliflower/baobab/turmeric concoction so good, we practically had to arm wrestle over who got the last bite. We’ll be back for Maafè and more. Follow the link in our profile to learn more, discover recipes, and order meals. What are your favorites from Teranga? It’s warm enough to have ice cream for dinner (and we just might indulge). Bring the ice cream parlor vibe home and join @sashac8 this Sunday, October 18th for an ice cream social! Make sure you have your favorite ice cream, gelato, or sorbet ready in the freezer, and we’ll make fancy Cookie Cups & Straws, Caramel Sauce, and ‘Magic’ Chocolate Shells to dress them up. YUM! We’re making late season eggplant the star of our table before we dive deep into hearty autumn squash. This weekend, we plan to highlight them in something kinda fancy and Ottolenghish (is this a thing yet @ottolenghi?! Because we think it should be.) and another something super simple from Japanese Home Cooking by @sonokosakai, as we cook through her book for this month’s @saltandspine Cookbook Club. Stay tuned for a recipe on the blog tomorrow. What are your favorite eggplant dishes? #farmersmarketfriday

Check out Chef Agustín in action! Last Sunday, he taught students the art of the Mexican grill, imbuing pork, pineapple, tomatillos and more with the signature char of Tacos al Pastor and Salsa Verde. Grill cam for the win! What camera angles do you want to see our teachers feature? #TCKatHome

As we put 2020’s last nectarines to use in Jessica Battilana’s fabulous Apricot-Nectarine Crisp (Minus the apricots. Plus blackberries. It’s a northern California, late-September version, after all), we eagerly await our upcoming Salt+Spine Dinner Party with @jbattilana this coming Wednesday, September 30th! Jessica writes for @sfchronicle_food and @nytcooking and some pretty awesome cookbooks, including her own, Repertoire: All the Recipes You Need, a mainstay in our own hom...e kitchen. Her writing always tugs at the heartstrings, while delivering totally trustworthy recipes and, ultimately, big smiles. Head over to our blog to enjoy a quick weekend read of our full interview with Jessica, along with the completely adaptable Crisp recipe. You can get there by following the link in our profile, and don’t forget to reserve your seat for the Dinner Party! Ed Anderson https://www.civickitchensf.com/news-and-recipes/article/ See more

Did you know that nectarines are typically available all the way into October in the San Francisco area (forgive us, east coast friends!)? So this weekend we’re pushing tempting thoughts of autumn pears and apples aside while we soak up the last of summer with juicy nectarines. Ask your market vendor if they have freestone or clingstone varieties (cross your fingers for easy-to-pit freestones, but at the end of the day, any excellent nectarine is worth the cling). Instructor Jackie Apple will feature the last of this season’s nectarines in Sweet and Savory Galettes on October 4th; follow the link in our profile to register. And, look out for some sweet nectarine inspiration from us this weekend! #farmersmarketfriday https://www.civickitchensf.com/classes/?id=461
