Santa Clara County has now implemented the new Regional Stay at Home Order that will remain in place until January 4, 2021. This order is in place to protect the region's ICU capacity and prevent it from reaching a critical point. Lack of ICU capacity means that you and your loved ones may not receive the care you need if you fall seriously illwith COVID or otherwise. This holiday season, it is absolutely critical that everyone stay at home and not leave for anything other ...than essential activities. We must work together to slow the surge and ensure our hospitals have the capacity to provide care to anyone who needs it. Please see highlights of the order below, and visit www.sccgov.org/coronavirus for more information. Yesterday, Governor Newsom announced a new Regional Stay Home Order that would go into effect in regions where less than 15 percent of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds are available. The order instructs Californians to stay at home as much as possible to limit mixing with other households. It allows access to (and travel for) critical services and allows outdoor activities. This limited closure will help stop the surge and prevent overwhelming regional ICU capacity. Rather tha...n waiting until ICU bed availability reaches critical levels and delaying inevitable closures, the Health Officers for the Counties of Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, and the City of Berkeley have jointly announced they will implement the State’s Regional Stay Home Order now. The order will go into effect this Sunday, December 6 and the restrictions will remain in place until January 4, 2021. We will continue to provide updates as the situation develops and the County releases further details.
