It was a beautiful afternoon in the City. Officer Huckabee and Officer Rogers stopped to visit with three young ladies outside playing this afternoon. They were excited about the stickers Officer Huckabee gave them.

New Year’s Eve is upon us, we are hoping everyone celebrates safely. We all are aware of the risks related to COVID-19 and the necessary precautions we need to take, but there are other dangers encountered on New Year’s Eve. One is celebratory gunfire, or shooting into the air. Every year people are killed and injured in the U.S. from people firing guns in the air on New Year’s Eve and the 4th of July. Please discourage friends and family from celebrating with firearms. Neg...ligently discharging a firearm is illegal and we will be enforcing it. Secondly, some people like to celebrate by drinking. Should you decide to drink please have a plan not to drive! We are all ready for the change a new year can bring, especially this year, but let’s get there safely together. There has been way too many tragedies this year to start off 2021 with one. Stay SAFE and HEALTHY Chowchilla! Happy New Year. Chief Dave Riviere
