Welcome everyone! This is the new official page for the Department of Cinema & Television at Los Angeles City College.

We are so excited to welcome prestigious film producer and one of the most influential voices in independent cinema, Ted Hope, to LACC Cinema/TV. Ted has produced over 70 films which have garnered 12 Oscar nominations. He has helped launch the careers of Ang Lee, Hal Hartley, Michel Gondry, Nicole Holofcener and many others. He co-founded the 90's production and sales powerhouse Good Machine and ran Original Movies at Amazon where he has a first-look deal. His recent book 'Hope for Film' is an inspiring, tell-all look at the indie film business. Join us Thursday, November 5th at 1pm for a conversation with Ted Hope! It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of losing Cinema/TV student, Paul De Reál. Paul was a talented filmmaker who was a collaborator and friend to many. His vibrance, creativity, and kind soul will be greatly missed by everyone who knew Paul. If you are able to donate to help offset the funeral costs, please do so here: https://gf.me/u/yykzrq Memorial Service is planned for Oct. 4th

Former/Current LACC Cinema/TV students: Have you wanted to take some intermediate/advanced courses at LACC but didn't have the time to commute? All of our department's classes are online for fall semester. The collaboration and access will be a little different this fall due to health restrictions, of course, but we are offering ALL of our courses except Grip/Electric online. We have a new one in DaVinci - Color Correcting Cinema 17 - 8 weeks online - taught by Rossiter. Sign up today for an August 31st fall semester start date. http://www.lacitycollege.edu/Depa/Cinema-TV/Programs/Cinema

Huge congratulations to Emanuel Shaw and Christopher Navarro for being the first LACC students to get certified in Avid Media Composer! They passed both (very difficult) tests, which are offered in our Cinema 32-2 course. Now we just have to get more of these shirts! Anyone need an editor? :)

We would like to congratulate our very own Duana Speights for her acceptance into USC's School of Cinematic Arts Graduate Program! Du'ana was instrumental in the creation and production of LACC Cinema/TV's very first original comedy pilot, EmmieThing Goes. If you're looking for something funny and entertaining to watch, check it out! In the same vein as Community and The Larry Sanders Show, EmmieThing Goes is one girl's journey of determination and self-discovery in the cra...zy world of TV and college life. When Deborah, the new head of the TV department at LACC, threatens to shut down the school's TV show, show creator Emmie and her ragtag group of friends must find a way to keep it and enter it into the illustrious Silver Globes competition. However, Deborah and her YouTube influencer daughter, Blair, have other ideas. https://vimeo.com/407860390 Note that the pilot contains a few uncleared elements and was produced as an educational learning experience through multiple classes at LACC's Cinema/TV Department. Enjoy!
