"During uncertain times, it can be difficult to find bright moments in the darkness. As I reflect on what we accomplished together to achieve our mission, I feel gratitude and hope for the future." - Sean Spear, President & CEO Read CHW's Year in Review: http://bit.ly/CHWYearInReview2020
CHW wishes you all healthy and happy holiday season and a joyful new year!
CHW festivities are continuing at CHW communities, including our Maplewood, Las Serenas, and Mayberry communities. Community Building Coordinators have made this season special by sharing gifts with Study Stars students.
CHW was nominated to receive a 2020 grant from NorthMarq’s Community Involvement program. NorthMarq’s donation will help ensure that all children in CHW homes have access to individual and small group tutoring so they do not get left behind. https://www.northmarq.com/northmarqs-san-diego-office-pres/
The statewide shift to remote learning widens the academic achievement gap for children in households with low incomes. We're continuing to raise money to help pivot our Study Stars after school program for remote learning. Give now at https://app.mobilecause.com/form/JYYvPQ?vid=ebgo1 #BringLearningHome
The Kimball Highland Master Plan proposed by CHW in partnership with San Ysidro Health is moving forward with approval from National City's City Council. Voting "Yes" on A will address the economic and public health crises created by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted people who are lower income and at risk of homelessness. Homes for San Diegans provides homes so those most vulnerable to infection can get the care they need for themselves and to protect others. #YesonMeasureA
Voting Yes on Measure A means Homes for San Diegans will create safe, clean and healthy housing affordable for low-income seniors, veterans and those with disabilities who are currently living on the streets or in immediate danger of homelessness. #VoteYesonMeasureA
Watch now as our President & CEO Sean Spear talks about Community HousingWorks' mission and how we continue to make an impact during this unprecedented year.
Voting Yes on Measure A will address the housing crisis in San Diego. San Diego has failed to build enough homes to keep pace with demand. If approved, Homes for San Diegans will provide up to 7,500 much needed affordable homes for those most in need. https://yesonasandiego.org/
Sean Spear, CEO of Community HousingWorks, is going live on Facebook with The San Diego Union-Tribune to talk about how the pandemic and social justice issues have exacerbated the need for affordable housing and what CHW is doing to address these needs. Tune in tomorrow at 12:00 PM at https://www.facebook.com/133508396112/posts/10158663957906113/
This year, home is more important than ever. CHW kids Karely, William, and Emely gave us a tour of their homes for #CHWDreamBuilder. We are proud to create affordable homes where kids can grow, learn, and most importantly, be kids. You can give to the Sue Reynolds Next Gen Fund to support resident programs for kids like Karely, William, and Emely. Text CHWSUE to 41444 or donate here: http://bit.ly/SueReynoldsNextGenFund
