Juan Pablo Hernandez ran his own business. After deciding that it was too stressful and took to much time from his family he returned to school to further his education. Juan Pablo worked very hard and has now completed the High School Equivalency Certificate. He is now interested in law enforcement and has already started the application process to be a Police Officer. His teacher said that Juan Pablo was extremely motivated and very intelligent and will succeed in his chosen career. CONGRATULATIONS JUAN PABLO
Sometimes a career choice isn't as satisfying as someone thinks it will be. Janette Suarez had that experience so she decided to get more education. She attended Chula Vista Adult School and recently completed her High School Equivalency Certificate. Janette now wants to go to Southwestern College and make a career in Culinary Arts. Her teacher says she is an excellent student and will succeed at any career she chooses. CONGRATULATIONS JANETTE
Next, there was a combined cakewalk and costume contest. There were a lot of winners and good food choices for the cakewalk. The 3 winners of the costume competition got a monetary prize. Both staff and students had a great time.
Today was the Chula Vista Adult School annual Halloween party. First, classes had a door decorating contest with the best 3 getting a pizza party.
It takes some students longer than others to accomplish their goals. Andrea Guatato overcame that problem with hard work and motivation. Andrea completed her High School Equivalency Certificate in only three months. She wants to go to Southwestern Community College and train to be a nurse. Her teacher said she was one of the best students he had ever had. CONGRATULATIONS ANDREA
An education is a way to improve your own life as well as your families. In order to do this Hillario Ontiveros returned to school and completed his High School Equivalency Certificate. The Culinary Arts class taught by Chef Ellen Baum recently volunteered for 6 hours of prepping for lunch at the Ronald McDonald House. Students got the experience of working in a professional kitchen with trained culinary volunteers. They also had the opportunity to work with industry professionals, as well as making menu items they had not done previously. The experience was so valuable and fulfilling that they will be returning again on the 31st of October.
Even when they have a job many people continue their education so they can improve their lives. Alfonso Motta is one of those people. He works in a shipyard but wants to go to Southwestern Community College to become a production engineer. To accomplish that Alfonso has just passed the High School Equivalency Exam. CONGRATULATIONS ALFONSO
Chula Vista Adult School is very proud of one of our students. Adrian Tarango has a passion for cooking. He started attending Chef Baums Culinary class for a few hours a day last year while he finished his High School Equivalency Certificate. He also got a job at the world renowned Marine Room in La Jolla in the dish room. He is now attending Chef Baums class full time and has been promoted at the Marine Room to the food line. We are impressed with his motivation, ambition and work ethic. Adrian is an example of how dreams can come true using Chula Vista Adult School as a starting point. CONGRATULATIONS ADRIAN, YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION FOR OTHER STUDENTS.
Chula Vista Adult School will be on Fall Break until Wednesday, October 10th.
