In response to the misunderstanding that took place at Chuck Patterson towing on 3/28/2020 involving a family whose car was towed to the Chuck Patterson Towing and had groceries in the car. This post is to help with the confusion and mis information that is going around on the web. In times when our community, country, and world at large are experiencing such difficult times and adjusting to a new way of life for the moment, it is important to remember kindness, compassion, f...orgiveness, and mercy. We at Chuck Patterson’s believe and stand for all of the above. It is important for the public to understand that due to COVID-19 our staff are taking precautions to keep our customers and employees safe. Most of the Towing company dispatch due to COVID-19 are dispatching from home. When the first dispatcher got the call from the gentleman she followed the normal procedure to open up the tow yard after hours and there are steps to follow to get personal belongings from the tow yard when it is outside of normal business hours. The fees to have the tow yard opened up on weekends or after business hours are standard with most tow companies and are CHP approved rates for this fee. When the gentleman got upset about the fee the dispatcher offered to have management call him. The gentleman turned down the offer and stated he would pay the fee. A different dispatcher was called to meet the customer at the tow yard and collect the fee and open the tow yard. The gentleman arrived upset and did not want to pay the fee. That dispatcher then called management to see about getting the fee waived. The manager called the customer and apologized for the situation and explained that the dispatcher was only following procedure and of course with ID they could get their groceries and the fee would be waived. The situation was resolved in approximately half an hour. Please see the attached photo the customer posted on his personal Facebook page. We would also like to remind the public that vulgarity, threats, and violence do not solve problems. Our dispatchers and management are getting threatening phone calls, emails, and social media posts. One individual threaten to vandalize the business and there have even been threats to physically harm staff at the towing company. This in inexcusable behavior and we will report post’s and threats like this to the proper authorities. Chuck Patterson’s has always supported this wonderful community and Butte County. We strive to ensure our dealership and tow company have a family-oriented atmosphere. Because after all we are one big family and family is always there to support one another in times of need.
