MEET the BOLD WOMEN of CLC With a master’s degree in Public Administration from National University, Cristine is a Food and Nutrition Area Supervisor in the San Diego Unified School District. As San Diego public schools are all doing online learning during the pandemic, and students are not eating meals at school, Cristine’s work has shifted to ensure that all children in need are provided with meal bags. Her school, Hoover, is currently serving as a prep kitchen, and she h...as employees at many other schools in the area, passing out 4,500 bags per week filled with 7 days’ worth of nutritious breakfasts, lunches and suppers for each child. They work with USDA and the San Diego Food Bank for supplies. Cristine feels that God has given her gifts, resources and talents, and that it is her job to use them for a greater purpose, and that feeling is reflected in her husband Robby and their children as well. She always feels that their own needs fall into place when they are doing God’s work. She loves to make a difference by showing up or feeding someone. She is still the league president of Coastal Bay Girls Softball, even though her daughter has aged out of it. It is run as a camp and helps girls during this COVID time so they have an opportunity to be together and get outside. She is still a co-leader of her daughter’s Girl Scout group, and coaches girls about service, and thinking globally and bigger than themselves. She has volunteered at Christ Lutheran Church in many capacities. Her faith was inspired by a theology professor at USD, and she has always taken care to teach her own children that church is a safe haven, a resource and a place to learn about service. She is happy that her children have been able to be surrounded by love and support at church, and to learn to be good people.
