*******PRESS RELEASE******* Today, at approximately 3:56 PM a California Highway Patrol Officer assigned to the Hayward Area Office was involved in a traffic collision on I-880 Southbound, south of Marina Boulevard. The officer sustained non- life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he is in stable condition. This is an active incident and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.... If you witnessed this collision or have any information that would assist in the investigation, please contact the Hayward CHP Office at 510-489-1500. Currently, lanes 1-4 of I-880 Southbound south of Marina Boulevard are closed. Please use alternate routes if in the area. *******UPDATE******* All lanes of I-880 Southbound at this location are now open.

Some folks chose not to heed the Maximum Enforcement warning for this weekend. Officer Chavaria made a stop for a cell phone violation on I-880 Northbound south of Marina Boulevard.
