Check out this awesome shot taken by our friend @bestwun. The Great Horned Owl is also known by its nickname, tiger owl. They can be found all over the United States year-round and have one of the most diverse diets out of all Northern American raptors. This species hunts animals such as rodents, ducks, skunks, snakes, squirrels, etc. While the Great Horned Owl is typically a nocturnal hunter, they will sometimes hunt in broad daylight as well. They utilize cavities in live trees, deserted buildings or human made platforms to nest, but it is not uncommon for them to adopt nests built by other species. #greathornedowls #owls #birdsofinstagram #chinocreekwetlands

How are you celebrating National Fragrance Day? If you don’t want to splurge on a fancy fragrance that will empty your wallet, find yourself some California sagebrush! This plant is sometimes referred to as the cowboy cologne due to its aromatic smell. In the past, cowboys rubbed this plant all over their bodies as a natural fragrance that would help them repel fleas as well. #californianative #plants #botany #fragrance #aroma #nationalfragranceday #cowboycologne
