Beginning on Mon., Oct. 19, Chapman undergraduate students have the option to resume in-person classes on the Orange campus. (This option has already been available for graduate and Rinker campus students.) As part of the planning for this transition, we need to confirm which students are attending or planning to attend classes in person and which are intending to remain online. To provide this information, we are asking all Chapman undergrads to you log into https://my.chap...man.edu/ and answer the question that pops up once you are logged in. Please remember that all students who wish to attend class in person must complete the return-to-campus requirements: Covid-19 test, online training module, and proof of health insurance. Students who indicate they will be attending in person and have completed these requirements will then be signed up to receive a daily email with a symptom screening questionnaire that will confirm their eligibility to be on campus each day.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT Alina Bitter (MACI ’21) is currently doing her student teaching at Canyon Rim Elementary, Orange Unified School District, not far from the Chapman campus. In her classroom, she has 100% at-home students, 100% in-person students, and hybrid students who come in person for a half-day. Alina says this semester has been daunting, with crazy transitions and juggling mounds of tech, but it’s also been an amazing learning experience: It has been quite a journey to... learn how to balance teaching all three models simultaneously over the past two weeks. But we've loved finally having our classroom filled with smiling kiddos (their masks hide their smiles but they definitely smile with their eyes!). It has absolutely warmed my heart to see their eagerness to learn and grow each day. Our students and families have shown an immense amount of empathy, patience, and understanding, which definitely makes our job worth it. Every day brings new challenges, but each day also brings new learning opportunities. While this is certainly not how I ever imagined my student teaching experience would go, I'm so grateful for the opportunity to learn & grow in so many ways. Seeing my students smile, laugh, and express how much they love school (even though it's not "normal" school) has been a constant reminder that I chose the right career path. I am blessed beyond measure with the best school site, mentor teacher, students, and families that I could've ever asked for!" Thank you Alina and all the teachers working so hard for our children everyday!

Starting this week, Chapman has begun a phased return to campus and in-person instruction. To help us transition back to the Chapman campus this fall, we’ve made some changes to Reeves Hall. This video will walk you through some of the changes and safety measures that have been implemented to increase the safety of our employees, students, and campus visitors. Looking forward to seeing our Panther back on campus soon!... #ChapmanU #AttallahCollege See more

Dr. Marie Nubia-Feliciano, Attallah Senior Lecturer and alumna (PhD '16), shares her experiences teaching "remotely" in Chapman's new HyFlex classrooms, without students. "I think the one thing this pandemic has helped us better understand is that 'survival of the fittest' really does mean the survival of those who can adjust and continue to thrive. That is my job now helping my students learn how to adjust to shifting realities, develop the strategies to assess and act in smart ways, and continue living their life to fullest extent possible." #chapmanu #attallahcollege #covd19 #remoteteaching
