"May you live in interesting times" (according to Wikipedia) is an English expression which purports to be a translation of a traditional Chinese curse. While seemingly a blessing, the expression is normally used ironically; life is better in "uninteresting times" of peace and tranquility than in "interesting" ones, which are usually times of trouble. We are living in interesting times. Even before the COVID-19 virus came upon us, these times were unlike any we’ve seen befor...e. Not going into specifics, the times we live in can be stressful. Social distancing, government health directives and sheltering at home can be disconcerting and un-natural for our social species to deal with. Our infrastructure and society is designed around touching things and people. It is a challenge to navigate our lives while avoiding touch. Don’t panic. Panic can lead you to misinterpret information which will lead you into making bad decisions. Panic leads to anxiety leading to stress. The key among all this stress is to relax and be calm. Relaxation can heal. Take time, step back, slow down and breathe. It’s a good time to go outside and take a walk. Look around. Enjoy the park. Focus on your garden. What is your favorite way to wind down? Do that in a healthy way. Personal projects you’ve been wanting to tackle can be put on your list. Challenge yourself to take this difficult situation and search for a positiveit may be hard but you can find it. All my best to you, your family and loved ones. Stay healthy and safe, from Paul Larson.
