Chapelle de L'Artiste Chateau & Retreat

Oh, sweet, brave, sassy Isis! We will miss you so much! Born nearly 14 years ago, in the ducting under the Gatehouse Cottage, and named after the Egyptian Godd...ess, you were as much a part of Chapelle de L’Artiste as the ground it sits upon. You were present at all of the events, but loved Halloween the most! You were a great huntress, always bringing me gifts, even when you were restricted to a tiny catio outside the RV. You liked the company of llamas, deer, ducks, dogs, and people. You didn’t like cats. You liked long, leisurely walks with me around the property. And I am so grateful for the beautiful weather of the last few days that allowed us to share our last walk together. You liked me to hold you, but only if I was standing or walking. You fell asleep that way this morning. One last time. And now, you’re resting in one of your favorite spots, beneath the ground where the big manzanita stood before the fire, where in its branches you’d lay like a panther, slow blinking at the world around you and your good life. You were my familiar. Always by my side.

Fall has always been our favorite time at The Chapelle - and it still is!!

While Scott Lotter and his team spent weeks collecting koi from hundreds of ponds all around Paradise, we kept a generator going to power our aerator in the pond, and worked to remove debris. Though we had a few floaters in the beginning, I am happy to share that they all recovered and we didn’t lose a single fish. Nearly two years later, they’re all happy and growing, fed daily and even visited by their former families!!

Here’s a little peacefulness from Chapelle de L’Artiste ... Namaste. It’s a little long, but the landscaping comes toward the end, and, yes, this IS Paradise!

As we work to create a new home and build a new business, we are also working to recreate the magic of Chapelle de L’Artiste! Though it may be a few years before we’ll have lodging back on-line, we hope to be able to offer event space as soon as we can safely gather!
