Chalon Indian Council of Bakersfield 20.01.2021

Hello Family, It’s that time again for the youth to get together. We have some new family members that may be joining the clan. Please get everyone on line to meet and greet. With everything going on, we really want the young and teenage cousins to stay connected. Not many people can say their lineage goes back before 1793 and we are all family.

A message from the family. Update for friends and family of Louise Appodaca: funeral arrangements are limited to her children and grandchildren due to covid-19. Anyone who would like to pay their respects can do so by sending flowers to her services. We will be setting up info to attend via zoom for anyone who would like to see her lay to rest. Please inbox me for any further details. Services will be held Friday, January 29th at 3pm at Historic Union Cemetery.

It is with heavy hearts for the Chalon Indian Council of Bakersfield to announce the passing of our Elder Louise Appodaca on December 28, 2020. Louise was one of the founding mothers of our tribe ancestral history. Louise always led the way for traditional ceremonies, dancing, and natural medicine/smudging for our people. A true warrior woman with fierce power and ability to stand and fight for her beliefs without hesitation. Her dedication to our family was like no oth...er. Louise’s involvement with the youth was always a priority. She served on both the Chalon board and the Elders board for many generations. She shared her whole heart and knowledge to everyone who needed extra love and teachings. Louise will forever be remembered and truly missed by many people she touched. Please say a prayer and make your offerings for her next journey in the heavens. Our deepest condolences to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sincerely, Chalon family
