2021 is year of opportunity for this group to give direction and make changes within the SBC.

Today, I was asked to lead a segment of prayer during the 7th Annual First Fruits Prayer Gathering on Mt. Helix in La Mesa, CA (the community I grew up in) below are my notes. Racial Reconciliation Prayer Prompts Opening Remark: ... Racism is a sin problem NOT a skin problem! Therefore Racial Reconciliation is a Spiritual Enterprise before it is a Social or Cultural one. Man is the ONLY creature created in the image of God. Imago Dei Genesis 1:26-27 (ESV) says 26 Then God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Prayer Prompts: 2 minutes: Spend time thanking God for what He has done in creating mankind in His image. 2 minutes: Spend time asking God to remove anything from your heart & mind that causes you to see the image of God as less valuable in someone else than in yourself. (The definition of the sin of racism: seeing the image of God as less valuable in someone else than in you) Credit: Miles McPherson in his book The Third Option, Chapter 2, "What is Racism?" Matthew 22:36-40 (ESV) says 36 Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law? 37 And he said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets. Final 2 minutes: Spend the final 2 minutes asking God to open your eyes to see everyone as someone who is, in some way or form, like you.
