Yesteday was Tu B'shvat - New Year for the Trees! (We didn't get any pictures of our delicious fruit feast - but check out some of the neat sticker art they wor...ked on.) Why do we have a full on holiday for trees? If the trees indeed have a new year, why do we care? The Torah teaches, "Man is a Tree of the Field" There are so many lessons we can learn from a tree. Here are a few we discussed: * Trees are always sharing and giving to others * Trees are always growing * Trees have strong roots * Trees stand strong and proud There's more ... what can you learn from a tree? Share it with us in the comments. Shabbat Shalom!! **Candle Lighting 5:06 (in Chico)**
Back in action with Shabbat To Go! Great seeing so many of you back today - getting ready to celebrate Shabbat all over Chico! Spring 2021 - here we come!! Shabbat Shalom!!! Candle Lighting 4:58
When the Rebbe assumed leadership in 1951, on the tenth of Shevat which is celebrated this Shabbat, he spoke a Chassidic discourse titled I have come to my gar...den. In it, the Rebbe describes the world as G-d’s garden which requires much work and toil to tend and care for. It is our generation’s mission, the Rebbe continued, to put the final touches on this garden and make it a comfortable dwelling place for G-d. It is up to each of us, individually, to refine our little part of this garden, and together we can prepare the world for G-d to be fully revealed. Please light Shabbat candles in memory of Chana bat Yehuda Leib at 4:58 in Chico. Shabbat Shalom!
Shabbat Shalom! Candle Lighting 4:50 pm ***... Within each of us lies a point where all of us meet. -Chabad.org It seems we are so different from the people around us. So different, perhaps we shouldn’t even be friends? We must remember that we were all created with a soul that comes from G-d, a soul that is identical to the souls within all those around us. And if our essence is the same, maybe there’s a lot more we can find in common. Maybe there’s more within each other that we can respect, understand and even come to appreciate. Please light Shabbat candles in memory Chana bat Yehuda Leib at 4:50 pm in Chico. Shabbat Shalom!

Be a Rainbow! In this week's Torah Portion we learn about the Flood, Noah's Ark and how G-d shows Noah the first rainbow. A rainbow, (in the simplest terms t...hat I used to explain it to my little ones) is a result of sunlight hitting crystal clear rain drops. The raindrops bend the different colors in white light, so the light spreads out into a band of colors that is reflected back to us as a beautful rainbow. The rainbow teaches us that we each have the ability to reflect light. We need to pause from our busy schedules and allow ourselves to bring beauty into this world. One Mitzva at a time. This week, let's focus on how we can reflect our light to those around us. To see a rainbow, we need to be looking from a particular angle. Let's be willing to view others from a positive and accepting angle, so we can see their beautiful light reflecting too! Shabbat Shalom from our family to yours! Candle Lighting 5:58 Shabbat Dinner 7:00 Services tomorrow begin at 10:00 followed by kiddush.

Each and every one of us is vital to the unity of our nation. While our outward Jewish expression may look different, true unity can only be brought about when every one is included. Just as we bring the four types of plants together, and this Mitzva is incomplete if even one is missing, so too, as a nation, we need each and every one of us - united together as one! *
