This week we are recognizing Macon B. Allen, an accomplished leader from the 1800s. A true #BarrierBreaker, Macon fought against the odds to become the first Black lawyer in the United States. Our participants at CEO often face a number of barriers when they return home. Our program is dedicated to helping them overcome these barriers so that they too can achieve success. #BlackHistoryMonth
It’s officially #BlackHistoryMonth and we’ve decided to do something a little different this year to celebrate. Each week we will recognize #BlackLeaders who may not be as widely known or discussed, but have made significant contributions to society or have had notable achievements. Let’s kick off the month with three women that have created an international movement dedicated to #equality. #BlackLivesMatter is a phrase people all over the world have come to know -- but do ...most people know how the #BLM movement came to be? Back in 2013, Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi created the social justice movement to protest against incidents of police brutality and all racially motivated violence against black and brown people. The movement now has millions of followers of all different backgrounds and was just recently nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. See more
