While we all should do our best to always shop local, today is Small Business Saturday! We are so grateful for the continued support throughout all these years,... but especially so during these unprecedented times. San Mateo county will be moving into the purple tier starting tomorrow, Sunday, 11-29-20. This is the most restrictive tier. We will no longer offer indoor dining until further notice, however, we will continue to have outdoor dining in our cozy heated parklets. We will still offer takeout and delivery, and as always, we have gift certificates for sale, which can be ordered online, by phone, or picked up. Please stay safe! Update for Sunday, April 19... Starting off the day with an email that just came in from Sutter Health Mills-Peninsula Medical Center (MPMC)..."Please thank eve...rybody involved....those delivering the food (especially in the middle of the night), those planning and making the meals....the donors. What a blessing." Some current stats: # of meals delivered: 840 # of meals remaining: 1,400 support already sent to our local restaurants: $24,088 Introducing our meal crew for the day: Cake on Saturday and cake on Sunday? My kind of weekend. Following up on their dinner to the Respiratory Department last night, The Cakery, Burlingame Ave (1308 Burlingame Avenue) will be making a return visit to MPMC today with lunch for the COVID unit. Jealous and want your own delivery of chocolate angel food cake or a half-dozen salted caramel cupcakes? Just go to their link here: https://www.burlingamecakery.com/s/order. And for those kids baking from home, they have yeast for sale now!!!! If you use yeast and/or flour from The Cakery, feel free to email of your creations and we'll share them with the owner. Just make sure you clean up the kitchen after you are done baking. Dinner is coming from a new restaurant on our list. Centro Pizza, at 1326 Broadway, opened for business at the end of 2018 and quickly developed a line-out-the-door following. Which Neapolitan-style pizza will it be tonight - the Diavolo or perhaps the Romana?...https://www.broadwaycentro.com is their website. They are also offering a neighborhood special of a giant pizza (serves 4-5), salad, and a bottle of wine. What is not allowed during the stay-at-home order? Checking yourself into the Emergency Room tonight just so you can get a slice of their pizza. On to the night shift and we celebrate another of Broadway's newest restaurants. Fuumi, at 1190 Broadway, is serving up some delicious Japanese food and is offering online ordering at https://www.fuumijapanesekitchen.com. The omakase sushi is a great deal and the veggie udon is tremendous. So many choices too, including all-day bento boxes. With parking in the back, you can quickly get your lunch or dinner and get back home to watch the repeat of game two of the 2003 NBA Championship ;). This late night (2am) meal is going to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Thank you all again for the tremendous support. As of today we will be continuing business from 5 PM - 9 PM doing takeout only, taking orders in store and on the phone with a limited menu, which will be posted before this evening. Additionally, we will be using the online service DoorDash to provide delivery to those that want it. Again, we cannot express enough how grateful we are for our amazing extended family for your continued support. Given global concerns regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to personally reach out and share the extra precautions Sapore Italiano and Centro Pizza are taking to keep our guests and employees safe and allow them to keep enjoying their dining experience with confidence. Our family of restaurants are open. As you might imagine, we are doing everything we can to stay open and to continue to provide healthy food options for our community. We are carefully monitoring th...e recommendations of governmental health agencies, such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and local health organizations, and we have further elevated our stringent cleaning and sanitation protocol. Both of our restaurants have received 'Excellent' ratings from the health department, but we are redoubling our efforts here to keep guests safe and to keep ourselves safe. We are disinfecting high-touch hard surfaces throughout the restaurants, instructing employees to wash their hands a minimum of hourly, which has been proven by the CDC to be the most effective preventative measure. We are recommending that those who are not feeling well to stay home to prevent the spread of germs. In the meantime, we are expanding our to-go services. Sapore Italiano will offer free dinner delivery to the Burlingame, Hillsborough, and San Mateo area. As always, you can also use Door Dash for delivery from Sapore as well. Centro Pizza is in the process of implementing delivery service via online sites such as Door Dash. We will inform you as soon as it happens. Order ahead and pick-up is always available.
