Calaverita writing is a literature practice that traditionally happens during Dia de Muertos. In this tradition, humorous poems are made for people or public figures that are still alive, as a way to remember that death is inevitable. Here we share a calaverita that Argelia Ramirez shared with us during Storytelling time for Centro. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
While COVID-19 prevents us from having our annual procession to Chicano Park, join Centro Cultural de la Raza for a Virtual Altares Walkthrough and get to see some of the community altares that folks came together to build to honor our antepasados.
Join Centro Volunteer, Liz Huato in a livestream art workshop. She will share how to make a print with recycled materials. This workshop is intended for children ages 7 and older. Younger children may need assistance from an adult.
