Up to 100,000 low-income households in Los Angeles will be eligible to receive a one-time $500 check in the mail to help pay bills such as gas, cellular phone, wi-fi, Internet and cable television services thanks to a program created under the leadership of Council President Nury Martinez with the support of Councilman Curren Price. The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power has begun accepting applications for the COVID-19 Utility Grant Program beginning today until Nov. 15.... Our low-income communities have demonstrated tremendous resilience and strength during this national public health emergency, said Councilman Price who seconded Martinez’ motion. COVID-19 has hit the working poor and people of color the hardest and it is up to their government to put forward a range of solutions that mitigate the challenges of this remarkable time in human history. I hope our actions send a clear message to our low-income communities that we stand with them during this pandemic and beyond."

The contaminated site is feet away from Central Alameda. Drive down East on Slauson pass Alameda (our boundary) and in two minutes you’ll be in contaminated areas caused by air dust. The soil is contaminated. Humans, children, babies, & elders will have detrimental health effects. Health effects like cancer, premature death, psychological harm by neurotoxins, etc. This is urgent.
