How organized are your spices? When you’re cooking are you digging through a drawer of spices? Rummaging through a cabinet? Do you wonder how long you’ve had that coriander? (Yes spices expire!) When you take a moment to put it back to where it belongs, you get that moment back in sanity the next time you’re cooking and can put your finger right on it!... 1. Take everything out 2. Check those dates 3. Make a note of doubles. (Don’t over buy) 4. Decide where best to organize your spices back into your kitchen, and make a plan. 5. Wipe down those bottles and organize them back into place. I like organizing into drawers, shelves and pantries. Everyone’s cooking style is different so the solutions may be too! I’m absolutely loving how my client organized then photographed all her shoes! The clear storage boxes are great but taking it to the next level with pictures... we’ll bravo ! One of the first things we do when organizing closets and shoes is take all of the shoes out of their boxes. It’s just too difficult to remember which is where. I love the drop front shoe boxes but these basic lidded storage boxes are perfect.... Being able to see what you already own helps from over buying and stops you from purchasing similar items multiple times. Take it out of the box! This applies to everything! This client apparently has had this craft unit for years, but just felt overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start. (Words we hear often in this biz.) Hangers. I’m often asked as a professional organizer, if I have a recommendation on hangers. It really depends on a number of things. If it’s just clothing I like to recommend the slimline hangers. You can invest in the velvet or the smooth plastic version. In a coat closet, invest in the stronger wood hangers. They can bear the weight that the slimline version sometimes can’t.... When you pick up your clothes at the dry cleaners, discard the plastic covers right away. Not only do they take space in your closet, leaving clean laundry in the bag can cause yellowing, staining, mildew, growth and weakening of the fibers. And if you don’t want to swap out the hangers of your dry cleaning, just make sure to recycle the wire hanger right away, and remove it from your closet. Having a hodgepodge of different style hangers also takes up more space. Pick a style and stick to it.
