Employment Authorization Documents USCIS has announced that it is recalling approximately 800 Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) that were issued to Asylum applicants approved between April and May 2018. The EADs were issued with asylees’ first and last names reversed. USCIS will send notices to affected individuals and their representatives. The notices will contain a pre-paid envelope in which asylees should return the incorrect EAD to USCIS. Asylees may also return the EAD in person to a USCIS field office. USCIS has indicated a replacement card will be sent within 15 days of receiving the incorrect card. USCIS has indicated the recall should not affect asylees’ work authorization since they may rely on their I-94 as evidence of continuing work authorization while waiting for their replacement EAD.
