Finishing up our Spiritual Stability series, Pastor Lance closes out Philippians 4 by stressing the faithful service of the Philippian church. Paul saw undeniable evidence that the Holy Spirit was at work in these peoples' lives, over the course of 10 years. This church was faithful to minister to (and provide for) Paul, throughout all of his trials in advancing the Gospel. Pastor Lance points out that where the demands continue to grow, God will continue to supply His streng...th and resources. We can never out-give the Lord with our time, talents, and treasures. It's never about the gift itself, but about what God can do with a generous heart. He wants to use us to bless others, as is evidenced by the way that the Gospel spread so far as Caesar's own household! Just as the Philippians moved from seeing a need to meeting a need, we too need to be Christians of action, applying the gifts that God has given for the furtherance of His ministry. Do we have humble hearts that are available to Jesus and His work? His people are called to bear fruit and to invest in others...have you invested in the Kingdom of God lately? Today, the temptation to be pulled away from our mission as Christians is stronger than ever. What you are talking about today is what you are focused on today. What you have texted, emailed, or posted today is what you are focused on today. What you have tuned in to and taken in is what you are focused on today. If you have tuned out of the developing narrative of this world (which is not our home), well done, faithful servant. If you are making time through this day to talk... to the Commander and Chief of your soul, well done, faithful servant. If you have taken time to take in the inerrant, inspired, eternal Word of God, well done, faithful saint. If you have shared Jesus, or shared His Word, well done, faithful servant. The non-believing world, and the distracted Christians of our day, need to see undistracted, unwavering faith in Jesus lived out. 2 Timothy 2:14 "You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please Him who enlisted him as a soldier." He taught out of Colossians 2 // a call to caution to the church, he gave 5 points we should use, and warned of the tactics of the enemy.
