Last Friday, Rabbi Cohen described CBB's ongoing efforts to bridge the differences that divide and polarize our country. Today and tomorrow, you can continue engaging in this work through the national organization "Braver Angels," a national nonprofit whose mission it is to help depolarize the US. LATER TODAY: Join "Moments of Peace" -- starting at 4 PM Pacific, this program will offer religious and secular 15 minute gatherings on Election Night. ... Gatherings may include readings, stories, a reflection, songs, silence, and in the case of religious gatherings, prayers. But we won’t comment on what’s happening on Election Night. A brief prayer for Election Week from Rabbi Steve Cohen: God who has blessed this nation with an unbroken history of peaceful transition of power, As we enter this week of democratic decision making, grant our entire nation the strength, the wisdom and the courage ... to enter Election Day and to emerge during the days that follow, with dignity, with grace, with integrity and with peace. Amen. See more
Over at the CBB VOICES blog, we're running Rabbi Steve Cohen's sermon from last Friday night. Here, Rabbi Cohen considers the legacy of Judaism's founding patriarch, and our greatest US president--each one confronted with how to move forward during a bitterly divided time. "We all know that our country is passing through a moment of supreme anxiety, fear, bitterness and polarization. And we know that even once the results become clear, which may take quite some time, a large ...portion of our country will be emotionally devastated, while another large portion of the country will be celebrating," he writes. We Want To Hear From You!!! The pandemic continues to impact most areas at CBB, and that includes how we communicate with you. We've just launched a very short survey to measure how we're doing. It takes the average person 4 minutes to complete--and helps us enormously :) Click here to help out: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Z5HYM
