CALLING ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS IN CAYUCOS! We're thrilled to launch our new 2020 Cayucos Sunset Photography Competition. Celebrate the unique beauty of Cayucos fall/winter sunsets in this juried photography competition for all skill levels: four separate categories and prizes. We've been hard hit in our little beach town not being able to share our traditional celebration events with you to greet and welcome our visitors. Yet, we continue to move forward and our local business and... service community relies on your support. So, this year we're offering a socially-distancing-friendly, independent, and safe way for you to share the love with us. Get creative and snap a few sunset shots. DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: December 31, 2020. Winners will be notified in January 2021 and featured in a new Cayucos postcard pack. IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR CAYUCOS RESIDENTS AND VISITORS--PLEASE READ! San Luis Obispo County has unfortunately moved back into the purple tier due to an increase of local COVID-19 cases. This has impacts on businesses and services remaining open and closed, such as indoor dining and gatherings. In addition, face masks are now mandatory when leaving home and there is a 14-day self-quarantine applicable for those visiting and/or returning to CA. Take some time to review these updat...es at the readyslo.org link below, especially if you are planning a visit. And remember that the safety of our community is very important to us...working together will hopefully lead to reduced case numbers that will help us stay safe to get back to lower tiers. We encourage those with questions or concerns to reach out to county agencies and local representatives. We will continue to share updates as they become available. https://www.emergencyslo.org/en/currentrestrictions.aspx
This is what we've been hearing for several months---some are thriving and super-busy, yet some have had to make tough cutbacks, and levels of recovery in-between. Thanks for the coverage on this unique situation we find ourselves in KSBY. We appreciate the dialog with our important local businesses and hope to keep it going. We find ourselves in a tough position to keep our community safe while also making sure our businesses thriving.
Reminder for safe Halloween practices tomorrow...no official group trick-or-treating allowed (handing out treats downtown to all of the costumed kids is a fall highlight!), but if you get 1:1 costumed visitors at your business, here's how to keep everyone safe. And share your fun costumes and decorations online with us using #CayucosCelebrates and #CayucosHalloween.
We've received a few questions about vote-by-mail and ballot drop locations in Cayucos (and more broadly in SLO County). In addition to sending completed CA ballots through the US Mail, you can utilize official county drop boxes. Our Cayucos location is at the Cayucos Library on B Street (in the book drop). Additional locations in nearby towns can be found at the link below. We're posting this notice as a courtesy to our online audience... please keep any feedback and commentary friendly, neighborly, and kind. https://www.slocounty.ca.gov//Elections-/Vote-By-Mail.aspx
We couldn’t agree more. Go Cayucos! (Named best small town in CA)
Friends...we're gearing up to launch a very special photography competition in Cayucos and will be announcing details early next week. HINT: don't miss the sunsets over the next few weeks...they are some of the best along the coast at this time of year. In the meantime, tag your casual pics with #Cayucos #CayucosSunsets cc: #CayucosChamberOfCommerce (Tonight looks like it's gonna be lovely...share them here!)
Yesterday was the first day in what feels like a VERY long time that we saw blue skies all day with warm temps (and more akin to our traditional Autumn season here in Cayucos). No fog, no smoke. We heard a lot of people in town commenting on how amazing it felt to enjoy the outdoors and sunshine again. #simplepleasures #Cayucos Lori Stone
On 9/22, SLO County updated indoor/outdoor operations and seating requirements and open guidelines by industry. We you Cayucos...and put down some thoughts to share how much membership means to us all right now. Have a read. Our collective focus may have shifted temporarily, but two important things remain: community and connection. We have individual and business/group/org memberships available to keep the momentum going. And let us know how YOU can best lend your talents to Cayucos over the next year+, as a member, volunteer, and/or community leader.
Due to fire activity, please be aware of road closures along the coast. Coastal communities are impacted through most of CA...that's a LOT of territory.
Not many other words than surreal in Cayucos... We urge everyone to stay safe. The wildfires are still impacting much of CA (and the west). Check for additional details at www.fire.ca.gov.
EVENT UPDATES - We know people are anxious for official news about the status of our fall events. We sure wish this was not the case, but we have cancelled both our October Semi-Annual Antique Street Faire and the Annual Cayucos Car Show based on county and state COVID-19 restrictions. Our #1 priority remains the health and safety of our community. We ask you to be understanding, polite, and recognize that these are not simple decisions...personnel and visitor safety, event planning, permitting, and other impacts are all considerations. We are very much looking forward to these events returning in 2021. December 2020/January 2021 events are TBD. Please reach out if you have questions. - Lori Stone, Cayucos Chamber Community Manager https://www.cayucoschamber.com//cayucos-chamber-of-commerc
We're adjusting our fall office hours (starting next week) to accommodate both morning people and afternoon folk--Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings. While we're not at 100% in-person capacity, we're available for our essential service-based activities. Or, we can always connect by appointment at a time that works for you in-person and online. We're here for you...safe business practices encouraged. (The flowers featured here are a preview of the gorgeous window boxes out front that are in sweet, full bloom...it's a bit of our joy here in Cayucos during this difficult time.)
Fundraising from Cayucos Chamber of Commerce.
We’re at the Cayucos Farmers Market today until 12:30pm...stop by for our summer offer, just 10 bucks for a special edition Cayucos tshirt to help support next years fireworks! (Plus a few bonus polar bear dip shirts on sale!!) Also, chat with our Chamber team members (Terry and Lori today) about Chamber membership and our summer renewal drive...on now!
This is the view from our Cayucos office this morning (looking northwest over the top of the Shoreline Inn towards the Estero Bluffs). Air quality is poor across the region this week due to vegetation fires. Please stay well and stay inside where possible. This has been especially tough for those seeing record high temps away from the coast. Rough week, all...please stay well and reach out if you need help.
