Do families visiting your library seem highly stressed by academic pressure? Do you know teens who fear they are failures if they don’t get accepted to their dream college? Do you know youth who seem so disconnected from school that they have given up? Do you know kids who are so pressured by academics that they don’t have time to just be kids? The Youth Mental Health Working Group (a group of staff from Alameda County, Santa Clara County, and San Mateo County libraries), wi...th funding from Pacific Library Partnership (PLP) is offering this free Zoom workshop from Challenge Success to help library staff better serve families experiencing negative effects from school stress. Challenge Success is a non-profit affiliated with Stanford University Graduate School of Education. Since 2007, Challenge Success has worked with over 450 school communities around the US and other countries to embrace a broad definition of success and to implement research-based strategies that promote student well-being and engagement with learning.
