We couldn't think of a better way to look toward the New Year. The culture of care calls for a common, supportive and inclusive commitment to protecting and promoting the dignity and good of all, a willingness to show care and compassion, to work for reconciliation and healing, and to advance mutual respect and acceptance. As such, it represents a privileged path to peace, Pope Francis wrote in the peace message published today.

Yesterday, Pope Francis announced a Year of St. Joseph in honor of the 150th anniversary of the saint’s proclamation as patron of the Universal Church. Reflecting on hidden sacrifices made by so many during the pandemic crisis in order to protect others, the Pope wrote: Each of us can discover in Joseph -- the man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet and hidden presence -- an intercessor, a support and a guide in times of trouble."

You likely wouldn't go on a pilgrimage for the expressed purpose of having fun, but chances are FUN is in and among the many experiences you will have beyond spiritual enrichment. It's just one of the many beautiful surprises of pilgrimage!
