It is a good morning for a hike!

All Saints and All Souls. Remember the distinction All Saints Day is a is a solemn holy day of the Catholic church celebrated annually on Nov. 1st. This day is dedicated to all the saints of the church, that is, to those who have attained heaven. All Souls Day is a day for commemorating the souls of all the faithful departed, baptized Christians who are believed to be in purgatory (who have not reached heaven) and is observed on Nov. 2 . ... Candles play an important role in honoring the Saints and the faithful departed. Lighting candles on All Souls are meant to kindle a light for the dead souls languishing in the darkness. It is also believed that ringing bells for the dead was believed to comfort them in their cleansing (Wikipedia). Irish tradition believes that the souls of the dead would return to their family home, and they light a candle as a welcome gesture (irishcentral). We light candles on All Saints to remember the Saints on this holy day of obligation. In the same way that we light a candle in remembrance for our deceased loved ones, we also light candles for our dear Saints who intercedes for our prayers to God. All Saints Day Masses: Sunday, Nov. 1 -8am, 10am, 12noon All Souls Day Masses: Monday, Nov. 2 - 9am and 6:30pm
