PLANT OF THE WEEK Ceanothus thyrsiflorus 'Julia Phelps' This cultivar of the California Wild Lilac is in full bloom at this time and worth having in your landscape. Easy to grow, does well with little water (in fact you can kill it with regular water), and rapid growth. Easy to find in local nurseries and not expensive to purchase. The one in the photo is in my front yard and is 3 years old from a small 1 gallon nursery pot. I water it infrequently and in seems to do well. The can be pruned to size and shape after the bloom has ended. Consider this one for your yard!
