This is the scoop: Wildfire Protectors Corps now h...as ~900 volunteers registered to help our elderly, disabled and low-income community membersas well as those who live along the most vulnerable watersheds to toxic runoffby preparing the properties before the impending rains. We arose out of these fires to help, and though we are not yet a 501.c3 (non-profit), we want to do it right having everyone out in the field protected. This will also enable the RCD and Fire Safe Councils to use us to help folks button up their properties. Our animal control officers are currently being deployed into areas that have been evacuated but are safe for us to enter. This includes Felton, Scotts Valley, ...southern parts of Ben Lomond and some sections of Bonny Doon. At this time our Animal Shelter is running out of space so we are mainly feeding animals in place. If you are able to take your animals from us we will evacuate them and return them to you at the shelter. If you have left an animal behind please e-mail [email protected] and include: 1. Your name, address, phone number 2. Number and types of animals 3. If you can care for them if evacuated If you have already sent an e-mail, PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANOTHER. We are triaging all calls for service and if you send us multiple e-mails it only slows down our response to help other animals. We have hundreds of addresses that have left animals behind and we are getting to each one as time permits. We thank you for your patience during this unprecedented fire.
