Casalegno Family Farm 09.05.2021

Today is the last market of the year in Scotts Valley. For us that means the end of our market season. We will still have apples, persimmons and winter squash through the end of the year at our farm stand at 3700 Old San Jose Road. Many thanks to all who have supported us this year. We were blessed with a good season and we have been very proud to share our bountiful harvest with you. Tomorrow we will be doing an Apple press on the farm, a traditional storing of hard cider... to get through the winter. I expect to be pressing from 10-2. If interested in fermentable juice please message us direct. Although the market season is over for us, you can still visit Santa Cruz farmers market on Wednesdays downtown, or live oak on Sundays. Plus we have many farm stands in our community that I’m sure will remain open as long as they can. Be well friends and we will see you soon! Much Love, Matt, Marissa, and Casalegno Family Farm.

Harvested a lot of nice tomatoes today. We will be up early harvesting squash, basil, maybe some cukes, and then headed to sell at the Live Oak Farmer’s Market. This is the final week for Bartlett Pears! And Green Gravensteins. We should have Red Gravs another week! Stay Safe, Be Well!... Also we still have free produce here at the farm for evacuees, firefighters, and people offering shelter. We will keep the stand stocked!

The SLV and Scott’s Valley communities have been some of the best support for our farm over the years. These awesome people week after week have shown up at markets with smiles on their faces and such dedication and enthusiasm for the work that we do. Our hearts go out to all of you that have been displaced by the #czufire I sit here deeply saddened thinking of everyone that has lost a home or left a home not knowing when - or if - they would ever return. It truly is devas...tating and leaves us feeling so helpless. We want to support your families the way you’ve supported us. The #scottsvalleyfarmersmarket and #feltonfarmersmarket have been closed until further notice but we still have freshly harvested produce here at the stand on the farm in Soquel. The air is smoky out here but we are safe for now and we encourage anyone that has been evacuated and experiencing hardship to come by and get some produce free of charge. Please let us know if you or anyone you know needs food. We are so thankful to still be at home and to have something to offer our community. Stay safe, take care of each other and look forward to better times @ Casalegno Family Farm
