One of the most frequent questions we get as marketers who have been studying the social media algorithm is how do you beat it? The unfortunate reality is that it's always changing and Facebook and Instagram don't exactly come forward and tell you how to follow the rules. It's trial and error along with being parts of groups that literally study it for a living. Our founder, Ashley Carty has been invited to speak and Universities such as Chapman University on this topic to ...help educate the MBA students on the tricks to follow to increase organic reach (most of it requiring following these rules/guideliens). For the most part, here are the rules you need to follow (updated 4.20.20) - No more than 10% text in an image (yes, 10% not 20) - No call to action comments (click, view, tag etc) - Copy needs to be engaging solving a problem or educating, remember social media isn't about you, it's about them and being social or providing value. Key words are pulled by these platforms and they know when you're being spammy. - Must use all features on IG and FB - Posting Amounts -- The amount you post is dependent on if you can keep your engagement high. Don't post just to post. If your content isn't relevant, you shouldn't be posting. If your post sucks and only gets a few engagements you'll reach less people down the road for your future posts. - Always Use Stories - When posting to your stories use a hashtag and location - Go Live (These tend to be the best when you collaborate and bring on guests either industry leaders or influencers) Leverage each others reach. - Follow / UnfollowEngage (no more than 20/hour) - IGTV: Straight from IG "Use all features" this includes IGTV. Yes, you need to do it, get creative and make sure it's engaging enough for them to stick around for that long. - Hashtags -- Do your research and use ones that are in a realistic reach for your page followers. If you have 1K followers don't try to tackle the hashtags with 1M uses, it's pointless). No more than 20 hashtags per post (always as a ... first comment) - Following Hashtags & Engage with Hashtags No more than 30 per hour - No external links on IG (they dont work and are spammy, use *link in bio* - Limit external links on FB to one every 3rd or 4th post (on FB) - Use Videos as often as possible - Join engagement groups for immediate engagement - Always use locations on posts and tag brands or others when you can - Do 30 Engagements when posting your own content (always) - What content is High Engaging Content?High-quality images with proper lighting and story, no stock images (unless you have no other choice, content must be relevant and high-value or relatable (whats in it for them). Restaurants: make them hungry. Anything else the best way to provide value is to share knowledge by creating interesting and high value educational content. Hope that helps!
