Happy President's Day, Everyone! Just FYI, our waste companies are still running normal routes today.
At the Caglia family of companies, we value being inclusive of our employees’ diversity and experiences. February is Black History Month! We honor those who have demonstrated unity, strength, and perseverance while pursuing equal rights within our country. #BlackHistoryMonth
Americans have been placing campaign sings in their yards for nearly 200 years. A tactic used in Ancient Rome, John Quincy Adams was the first U.S. Presidential candidate to have voters place signs in front of their homes in the 1820’s. Today, we uphold the same tradition. However, modern campaign signs are made from significantly different materials. Most of the signs are made from corrugated plastic with a plastic film coating, held up by a metal frame. This allows for du...rability and weatherproofing but poses a challenge to recyclers. In an effort to remove the guess-work out of recycling your campaign signs after Election Day, Caglia Environmental is offering free disposal of all political signs and their metal stakes. Fresno County can take advantage of this offer at Cedar Avenue Recycling & Transfer Station (CARTS). Thousands of political campaign signs are displayed throughout Fresno communities each election. Unfortunately, many of them end up in the landfill. By giving people a safe and convenient way to dispose of the signs, we’re helping Fresno minimize unsightly litter and unnecessary waste, explained Richard Caglia, President of Corporate Development for Caglia Environmental.
WANT TO HEAR SOMETHING SPOOKY? Each year, nearly 600 million pounds of candy is produced for Halloween in the United States. Did you know? Candy wrappers are NOT recyclable! *gasp!* Candy wrappers are small and made of mixed materials like plastic and aluminum. These materials make the wrappers attractive and shiny but they give our sorting machines a ghoulish time! So, where do all the wrappers go? Instead of sending them to be buried in the landfill (RIP), check out the 20 ways to re-purpose them below.
