From Sheriff Scott Jones Today, there will be an organized effort during the Sacramento County Board of Supervisor’s meeting to call for the defunding of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, and other local police departments. Typically, the same couple dozen folks will stand up with a straight face and try and explain nonsensically why our community would be better and safer without any police. Since I know it is too long for local media, this is the complete statemen...t I released to the media today (and I have a small ask at the end): Defunding and crippling law enforcement seems to be working well in New York, where yet another child was shot and killed last night in unprecedented and ongoing violence. Pick any city that has entertained this lunacySeattle (near where a police officer was murdered just last night), Chicago, Washington DC, Baltimore, Los Angeles, or any otherand look at the predictable consequences that are occurring when violent criminals are emboldened by a lack of enforcement. Let’s continue to discuss how we can be better and more responsive to ALL our communities, but our elected officials’ first and foremost responsibility is to ensure the safety of citizens. Remember, the BLM political movement by their own admission does not want BETTER police, they want NO police. They are self described abolitionists when it comes to police, so the mistaken belief that anything less than total elimination of police will be satisfactory is naïve. For every disrupter calling for defunding the police, there are tens of thousands of hard-working women and men that rely on knowing that their police are keeping their families and businesses safe. Since a couple dozen folks can take the day off and attend a Board of Supervisor’s meeting to call for defunding police, you can readily assume that the rest of the 1.5 million folks in Sacramento County want to keep their policing intact. If you would like to have your voices also heard directly by the Supervisors about how important maintaining your Police Department or Sheriff’s Office is to you and your family, please take just a moment and send them a quick email at the addresses below. MAUI RESIDENTIAL 2019 RECAP According to a new report released by the Realtors Association of Maui, Maui home prices were up 4.6% in December to $740,000 for a single-family residence; and condo prices were up 4.7% to $514,120. While, Days on Market increased by 7.8% for single-family homes but decreased 9.7% for condominium homes. The report also noted that months supply of inventory decreased 18.6% for single-family homes and 9.5% for condominium homes. Information provided by Sara Fox.
