CareChoices Hospice Volunteer Services

It was so wonderful to connect with our volunteers thru Zoom this morning. Our "check in" word cloud captures what I love about our CareCHOICES volunteers - even in a stressful and tiring time they bring gratitude, positivity and hope.

I wanted to say a big "Thank you!!!" to our volunteers who helped to prepare our packages for veterans and their spouses and made deliveries on Memorial Day to remind them how valued and appreciated their sacrifices for our country are. Our community partners really appreciated having these materials to share with their residents and our home patients felt special and remembered.

They are delivering thank you packages to veterans and roses to the spouses of veterans today. Thank you so much to all our new volunteer orientees who participated in this morning's virtual orientation over Zoom, it is such a joy to met new people who choose to reach out and offer their help when they see it's needed. I'm looking forward to the day when our new volunteers and our experienced volunteers can meet up in person!

Taffy and Little Debbie bring joy wherever they go!

We had a great time decorating little Christmas trees this Saturday at our volunteer holiday party. Each tree will be given to a hospice patient who could use a little extra holiday beauty. Thank you so much to all our volunteers who came out and participated.

Today, we have a tender visit note, to share that sometimes it's the small things that make it worth our while to visit: She was seated in her usual TV lounge chair when I arrived and smiled when I sat down next to her. She didn't respond to my questions but she did focus on my face as I spoke. She didn't let the nurse feed her a cookie, she wanted to hold the cookie and eat it herself. Twice she mumbled something that I could not make out. She smiled when I offered her my hand and held my hand while we watched TV.
