Vallejo Capitol Stairs Mosaic Project 31.10.2020

FACES OF THE CAPITOL STAIRS Mary walks down the Capitol Stairs on her way to work almost daily. After her Capitol Stairs trek, she takes the Ferry to catch a... bus that then takes her to the SF Veterans' Hospital at the Presidio. At the end of her work day, she returns to her home on Capitol Street via our stairs. We are looking forward to making her commute even more beautiful once the Art Tiles are installed next spring! LANDSCAPING PROJECT FOR THE STAIRS BEGINS! Friends of the Capitol Stairs will begin this fall to plant a fragrant, hummingbird attracting garden! Our first project will be to cut back, dig up, divide, and plant in pots Lobelia laxifolia (Mexican Lobelia) from my garden. Later we will transport them to the Loma Vista Green House. This Lobelia is a favorite of humming birds, originally from Mexico and extremely drought resistant. In the fall, we'll plant our starts around the Stairs. Interested in volunteering? Leave a comment below and we'll set a date to begin!
