Robert Henry Wills Jr. (AKA Mr. Wills, Señor Wills, Coach Wills) began his tenure at Capital Christian High School on August 11, 2004 where he served admirably as Spanish teacher and Assistant Dean of Students. In his sixteen years of service, Mr. Wills also worked as Assistant Principal, Guidance Counselor, Proctor, Coach, and Mentor. Bob Wills was known for many things but will be best remembered as The Voice of the Cougars. For many years, Bob was the PA Announcer for... CCHS Football and Boys & Girls Basketball. He called hundreds of regular season and playoff games during his time at Capital. One of Bob’s passions was to ensure that each student was academically eligible to participate in their sport. During break and lunch you might find Mr. Wills speaking with students, encouraging them to keep their grades up. This guidance was critical to each students’ success. He cared deeply about their educational progress and aimed to prepare them for the next level. His greatest joy was shaking each students hand on graduation day and telling them, you did it, you’re ready, go do it! Above all, Mr. Wills most memorable accomplishment, and what he will be remembered by forever, is authoring the school’s fight song. In the spring of 2008, Mr. Wills presented his idea and version of the fight song to Student Leadership. They heard it one time and overwhelmingly agreed on its adoption. He presented it to the student body the following week at chapel and Cougar Nation has been singing it ever since. He was extremely proud of this and insisted that everyone sing it properly! Standing together, pointing together, and yelling GO CC! together. He was particularly loyal and cared deeply about unity. Mr. Wills made every student he came across feel special and important. He was one-of-a-kind and will be missed deeply around our campus. Mr. Wills succumbed to a bout with Leukemia on August 1, 2020. He left this world having made tremendous impact and went peacefully to be in the arms of Jesus. He will be greatly missed! In an effort to ensure all who loved Mr. Wills can attend, a memorial service in his honor has been postponed. Please stay tuned for additional details. Until then, in the words of Mr. Wills: Roll On, and Go COUGARS!!! See more
