Are You Stuck in a Rut? We have come to the closing comments from King Solomon in his journal about the meaning of life. Over the next few weeks our focus on chapters 11 and 12 will move us from the king’s observations and comments on the meaning of life lived under the sun to one of application as the king applies what he has learned and describes to us a life of meaning. We begin today in chapter 11 as King Solomon reminds us that our life is a journey. A journey that if ...lived above the sun in a relationship with God, is full of meaning and value. The application: embrace this journey, pursue the things of God in every season and trust Him for the results. Don’t get caught in a rut!

"Speak Up" We cannot attribute these words to King Solomon but based on this week’s passage the king would probably agree that when our mind goes blank we should remember to turn off the sound. This week we are given a clear comparison between foolish words and wise words. Considering all that we are facing today, this week’s passage is a timely reminder for all of us to be growing in wise speech.

Modeling God Are you having a difficult time modeling God’s message? There are those days, situations, circumstances that make modeling God’s message almost seem impossible. If that’s where you’re at don’t despair because God’s Word speaks directly to what you need to do. This Sunday we’re going to look at wisdom and folly and conclude that by choosing wisdom each and every day will be the far better choice. It should be the only choice! Folly will bring us to ruin, but wisdom will put us in a position where we will model God’s message

Living with Joy (Part 2) This week we continue our focus of living in the joy of the Lord. Can we live in the joy of the Lord in times of suffering and difficulty or when circumstances are unfair or unjust? Given all that we have been dealing with over the last 6 months, it is a relevant question for most of us. According to King Solomon, the Apostle Paul and the Apostle Peter, we can. Join us Sunday as we find encouragement in the book of Ecclesiastes; understanding how joy in the Lord is designed to run concurrently through every season of our lives.

Living with Joy This week King Solomon brings us back to a recurring theme in his journal, enjoying the blessings that God has given each of us in this life. There is a joy that we only experience through Jesus and this week we will consider and celebrate what it means to live in the joy of the Lord.

Everyone Loves A Good Ending I think it was Woody Allen who said, It’s not that I’m afraid to die. I just don’t want to be there when it happens. This week King Solomon takes us through a topic that most of us would rather avoid. The king’s frustrations come to a climax as he laments the fact that death awaits us all; the good and the bad, the righteous and the wicked. It is another frustration for the king from an under the sun perspective, but as always there is much for us to learn about this subject as Solomon discloses this reality of life.

What Is Wrong with This Picture? There is no doubt we are living through some very concerning and trying times. At times it is difficult to make sense of what is taking place. Some of you may have even uttered the words What is wrong with this picture? You have struggled to make sense of circumstances, events or outcomes. King Solomon faced similar moments in his life. He faced times when he questioned why things were happening the way they were. This week he describes such a time and his concerns about the wicked receiving the benefits or rewards of the righteous. It is a frustrating time for the king, but he also recognizes that in the end it will go well for those who fear the Lord. This week we consider some significant differences between those who fear the Lord and those who do not.

Taking the Lead - The Meaning of Life (Week 20) Not everyone is anxious to sign up for a leadership role today. In fact, many are moving away from these roles given our current cultural view of leaders. But God has called each of us to lead in varied settings. You may be leading in your home as a parent or older sibling. You may be leading in your workplace. Maybe you are a mentor, coach or teacher. The list of leadership roles continues and goes far beyond some of the offic...ial roles of leadership that we may define. This Sunday as we continue in our series, "The Meaning of Life; Living a Life of Meaning" King Solomon approaches a subject we covered in chapter 5. It is the encouragement to submit to the leadership that God has established, in this case the king. This week, however, instead of looking at these verses from the viewpoint of the one who is subject to the king, we will look at them from the viewpoint of the king himself. King Solomon delivers some pointers on good leadership. These are truths that apply to every role of leadership.
