Leave a comment if you’re still waiting for yours and we can organize a book swap. The good news is, so many people have been inspired to educate and challenge themselves that copies have been difficult to get ahold of. If that delays our discussion for a bit, so be it. We promise to stick with it even if there are obstacles. That’s the point, right?

Our first book has been chosen by CANE’s own Eboni. Is anyone surprised that we’re also getting a heavy dose of feminist strength and power along with our anti-racism lesson? It’s called intersectionality and it’s a word we’ll be hearing a lot, no doubt.

While we fight for our business, members of our community are fighting for their lives. As a small business that employs and serves the BIPOC community we are called upon to take action and join in the fight against racism. We will sharing a percentage of the donations we receive through our GoFundMe with @nationalbailout to #freeblackmamas who have been jailed unfairly because of systemic racism and sexism. In addition, CANE is launching the #canesugarstudioantiracismbookclu...b. Again, that’s the CANE Sugar Studio ant-racism book club. Each month we will read a book that either teaches us how to be a better citizen in the fight against racism or a work of fiction by a black author. We invite you to join us. We want to provide a safe and open space to have difficult and challenging conversations. Please feel free to share recommendations as we hope for this to be a community effort.
