Its the last day of Women's History Month! We would like to introduce you to our Special Counsel, Trusts & Estates: Nicole Ramos Takemoto. Here are her answers to 3 questions we asked to gain more insight as to why she thinks Women's History is important to celebrate. ARE THERE ANY ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT WOMEN THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE? WHY?... I would change the assumption that women should bear the mental load, which is the invisible labor involved in managing a household and family. Although there are plenty of male partners who do their fair share, this is an area that remains frustratingly resistant to change. WHAT WOMAN INSPIRES YOU AND WHY? Ruth Bader Ginsberg inspires me because she was the ultimate working mother. I have three children and I learn something new every day. IF YOU COULD LEARN TO DO ANYTHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE? I am trying to learn how to play golf. It's a work in progress! WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE WILL BE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR THE GENERATION OF WOMEN BEHIND YOU? I hope that the next generation of women will close the gender pay gap. Equal Pay Day just occured on March 24, 2021. This date symbolizes how far into the year the average woman must work (in addition to her earnings last year) in order to have earned what the average man has earned the entire previous year, regardless of experience or job type. In celebration of Women's History Month, we would like to introduce you to our Senior Associate Attorney: Alice P. Cheng. Here are her answers to 3 questions we asked to gain more insight as to why she thinks Women's History is important to celebrate. 1. ARE THERE ANY ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT WOMEN THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE? WHY?... That our efforts are worth less. Whether it is that efforts at home are somehow less valuable than earning a wage, the assumption by some that our place is at home as caretakers, or that our contributions in the workplace should be paid at a lower wage, I would love to change that perception. 2. IF YOU COULD LEARN TO DO ANYTHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE? Speak a new language, like Spanish or Korean 3. WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE WILL BE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR THE GENERATION OF WOMEN BEHIND YOU? To continue to break glass ceilings in every arena, not limited to but including politics, science, tech, law, and sports. Pictures: Alice during one of the three days she volunteered as a poll worker in Alameda County during the 2020 election and while visiting Shanghai. . . . #womenshistorymonth #womensupportingwomen #women #womenempowerment #womeninbusiness #womeninbiz #womenpower #womensfashion #estateplanning #familylaw #lawyer #lawyers #contracostacounty #walnutcreek #eastbay #bayarea #womenownedbusiness #womeninspiringwomen #womenempoweringwomen #qanda #alamedacounty #candelariapc
