We have an asphalt drive lane!! Did you know that asphalt takes 30 days to cure? Neither did we! Here's what we've been asked to do for the next 4 weeks: -Enter the lot off of Carson Street -Drive slowly and cautiously -PLEASE no sharp, hard turns on the asphalt. It could get damaged until it cures. ... -Exit the lot on Los Coyotes Diagonal We hope you love our new lot as much as we do. There may be heavy equipment here tomorrow too, so it is recommended that you park in the McBride parking lot and walk over, or call before you come to the office to see what the status of the day's work is. Thank you for your help and cooperation! See more
Our parking lot project is moving right along. Today we had concrete work done and it is beautiful!!! Please note that if you need to come into the office, you will want to call first as both driveways may be blocked at different times during the day. OR you may come in after 3:00 pm as most of the work is done for the day. Stay tuned for further updates!
Kind people are our kind of people too! The after school program at DeForest Park in north Long Beach is up and running! Lots of great activities including, math and literacy enhancement daily, weekly STEM activity, fresh air and all for $30 per week!!! Go to www.campfirelb.org for information or to register.
Fun news! Thanks to a grant from the Port of Long Beach, we have begun working on our rain catchment parking lot renovation! If you need to come to the office, please be aware it’s messy. Tennis shoes advised due to the fine dirt and uneven ground. For now, it is recommended you enter the property off the Carson Street entrance and park in our camp parking lot on the left. You may enter the building through the glass door from the parking lot area. We anticipate the lot being done in the next few weeks. Keep checking back for updates on the project status. We can’t wait for our beautiful, new parking lot!
Uh-oh......Leprechaun's were into everything at the After School at DeForest Park. What a mess they made!!
Our after school program is back at DeForest Park starting Monday, January 11th! Click on www.campfirelb.org, Afterschool Program tab, then LEO, then Register Now to access the registration portal. This program is not the quite the same as our LEO program, and is being held at a different location.
Support the Counselors in Training for summer 2021 by having pizza on Tuesday, January 26th! See flyer for details.
In February, our club kids make valentines for our local veterans. This year, since our workshop cannot be done in person, we are sending Valentine Kits to their homes. The club members can make the Valentines and then they will be picked up and delivered to the Long Beach Veterans Administration. We can't wait to see all their valentines!!
Happy New Year from all of us at Camp Fire! Stay healthy and safe!
The 2021 Wohelo candidates turned in their final project books last night! A very exciting night for these seniors who stepped up to the challenge to earn Camp Fire's highest award. Congratulations!

Boo!!! Happy Halloween from Camp Fire!
The last two weeks of the LEO program have focused on Navigation. Kids learned about Geo Caching, and made sun catchers and compasses, and did some leaf painting just to name a few of the activities. Next week, the theme is landforms and topography, with a little Halloween fun sprinkled in as well!!! It's not too late to sign up, check it out at www.campfirelb.org.
Navigation is the theme this week at the LEO program. And guess what? The kids are having such a good time with their hikes, reading maps and topography, and there's so much more to cover that they are extending the theme to next week! Go to www.campfirelb.org to register your child now. We are accepting reservations from now through the week of November 16, 2020.
We're running LEO through the week of November 16th. We'd love to see your kids! Please like and share.
This week in LEO: The kids made their very own nature candles! Also, they participated in a calming exercise to connect with nature by doing a nature weave. A nature weave teaches mindfulness and relaxation. It helps with depression, anxiety, and to build resilience and the ability to cope with stress. It allows the children to engage more fully with themselves and the world. There is still space available in the program for the next two weeks. Go to www.campfirelb.org to sign your child up today!
Today in LEO: It's tree week! And Wednesday is archery day! The kids are loving being out in camp and participating in some fun camp activities. We are currently enrolling through the week of October 12, 2020. Go to www.campfirelb.org to register!
Tickets are limited, so get yours today!
Please like and share! We have availability for all who are interested. Contact us with questions: 562.421.2725.
